Case Study: Warsteiner & IdentPro
The Warsteiner Group is a successful family business with beer exports to over 60 countries, the leading position among German private breweries. The Warehouse Execution System, connected to SAP EWM, ensured complete transparency of full all stocks as well as deliveries. At the same time, empty runs were to be reduced and the handling of empties simplified for the forklift drivers.
Facts & Figures
36 forklifts, 2 locations
Double-length adjustable multiple forks for max. 12 lift
280,000 and 70,000 m² tracking area
15 loading ramps, 20 loading areas
Integration with SAP EWM, Partner: prismat
Tracking of pallets without scanning, empties handling, scan-free factory traffic
Initial Situation
Outstanding product quality and constant process optimisation are central to the Warsteiner Group’s day-to-day business. As a result, they hold the top position in beer exports among German private breweries. In order to meet current and future requirements, a new control system for internal material flows was neccessary.
The Goal
Most important for Warsteiner was an optimised use of resources and full transparency of stocks (full and empty) and deliveries. Simultaneously, the handling of empties was to be simplified and accelerated for the forklift drivers.
The Warehouse Execution System by IdentPro expands SAP® EWM and takes over control of the forklift fleet. Automatic responses are sent to EWM. Using an application specially developed by IdentPro to meet the requirements of the beverage industry, four clicks on the forklift terminal are all it takes to collect empties. Another new feature is a “loading screen”, which enables the scan-free exchange of goods between the locations in Warstein and Paderborn.
